r5d.chat ships as one product in two shapes. The application is identical; they differ in who operates the cluster and who is billed.

Managed

We run it. Sign up at r5d.chat, subscribe for $5 / month, and start immediately. No cluster, no upgrades, no database to back up.

Self-hosted

You run it. Install the published Helm chart into your own Kubernetes cluster. Your data never leaves your infrastructure.

What differs

Both editions require you to supply your own model provider credentials. The subscription pays for the workspace infrastructure and the application, not for model tokens.

Managed

Everything is already running. Create an account, subscribe, add a model provider, and chat.
  • Billing is handled by Polar, our merchant of record. Invoices, VAT, and cancellation live in the customer portal reachable from Settings → Subscription.
  • If a renewal fails, access continues for a short grace period rather than stopping immediately, so an expired card does not interrupt work in progress.
  • Cancelling keeps access until the end of the period you already paid for.

Self-hosted

The chart and images are public; the application source is proprietary. You do not need an account with us, a licence key, or outbound access to any r5d service.
A self-hosted installation has edition: self-hosted, which is the chart default. In that mode the application contains no paywall and never contacts a payment provider, and registration stays invite-only until an administrator enables OIDC auto-provisioning.

Licensing

The container images and the Helm chart are published for use with a self-hosted installation. The application source code is proprietary and is not distributed. Redistribution or resale of the images requires a separate agreement.
